Jev's list price is $0.042 per million input tokens, and output is free.
Opened October 1, 2026, TypeSafe's models page lists jev-1.13.0 at $0.042 per million input tokens and $0 for output. That is the list price for TypeSafe's own API. Gateways publish their own rates. The 400 times line in the launch post is a separate claim, and this desk has not reproduced it. The model those tokens buy is on what Jev is.
What does a Jev call cost?
TypeSafe bills the input tokens and lists the output at no charge.
On September 30 this desk sent one POST, model jev-latest, and the response named jev-1.13.0. Usage was 426 input tokens and 73 output tokens. At the list rate the input is a fraction of a cent. A separate 32-ticket run the same day used 12,597 input tokens. At $0.042 per million, and $0 for output, the list cost is $0.000529. Both runs are written up on the launch story and on access. The full rate card and the signup state are on the API page.
What do the rate limits say?
The models page opened October 1, 2026 lists 100K tokens per second and 40 requests per second.
Opened October 7, 2026, the same page lists 80 requests per second.
The price, the 100K token rate, and the 64k and 32k caps on that row
were unchanged. jev-latest and jev-preview
both still point at jev-1.13.0.
The whole request is capped at 64k tokens. State plus the longest question is capped at 32k. The page says those limits can change without notice. They are not a latency promise. TypeSafe's own latency claim remains 70 to 500 ms. The 32-ticket p50 on this desk was 913.5 ms, including the round trip. Jevflake's README, at the same $0.042 rate, prices a short ticket with three questions at about 470 input tokens, roughly $20 per million rows. That figure is the author's. The package is Jevflake.
Do other hosts charge the same?
No. Each listing publishes its own rate, and several of them have already gone stale in print.
Vercel's model card listed input and output as Free, with promotional pricing printed as ending September 25, 2026. Opened again on September 26, the card still listed Free and still printed that date. Cloudflare's typesafe/jev card is filed under text generation, and its dashboard rates are not the $0.042 figure. Clef and Clef-flash, Cloudflare's own models on the same host, list $0.24 and $0.09 per million input tokens. Venice's beta documents the same $0.042 rate and the same 64k / 32k split. OpenRouter's beta listing says it uses TypeSafe's public price, on POST /api/alpha/decisions. MotherDuck's published AG News script, 100,000 training rows, is the vendor's table: 89% accuracy, 2,484 rows per second, $0.50, 40 seconds. We did not call those hosts. Doors are on access. Venice's write-up is Jev on Venice. The warehouse bill is prompt_jev().
Is the 400x cost cut a measured bill?
No. The roughly 40 to 400 times line is TypeSafe's own test, and this desk has not reproduced it.
The launch post also cites a high end of 444.6 times on four workflows, and says that high end is likely the top of real use. The 32-ticket run did not include those workflows. LangChain's tutorial repeats the company's 400 times cost figure. It is not a LangChain measurement. Signup history is separate from the list price. On September 22 TypeSafe paused new signups. On September 27 it reopened them and said new signups no longer get the $5 credit from September 20. On October 6, 2026, at 17:05 UTC, a new console account showed available credits of $0.00. On October 8, 2026 the same signed-in console still showed available credits of $0.00, no payment method, and no billing history. That thread is signups paused, then reopened. Similar cost tables sit on compare.
Is Jev output free?
On TypeSafe's models page, opened October 1, 2026, jev-1.13.0 lists output at no charge. Input is $0.042 per million tokens. The page says the limits can change without notice.
Does every host charge $0.042?
No. Venice documents that rate. Vercel's card listed input and output as Free. Cloudflare's typesafe/jev card is not the $0.042 figure. Each host can go stale.
Do new accounts still get $5?
The September 20 post included $5 of starting credit. On September 27 TypeSafe said new signups no longer get free credits. On October 8, 2026 the same signed-in console still showed available credits of $0.00, no payment method, and no billing history. On October 6, 2026, at 17:05 UTC, a new console account on this desk showed available credits of $0.00 and an empty billing history.
