TypeSafe reopens Jev signups and drops the free credit for new accounts

TypeSafe’s account posted at 06:19 UTC on September 22 that demand had grown enough to pause new signups for Jev. Existing signups continue to function. The post says the company is working to open access again. It does not say when.

Diogo Almeida quoted that post at 06:24 UTC. He wrote that the service is overflowing, that new signups have to be suspended, that old users should be fine, and that the pause is so the team can sleep. The image on the company post is a meme. The caption reads “WHY CAN’T I HOLD ALL THESE SIGNUPS.” It does not name a limit, an error, or a status page.

This is two days after the September 20 post that dropped the waitlist. That post described a $5 starting credit, about 120 million tokens. Replies under the pause include people saying they were a minute late and twenty minutes late. We did not try to open an account that day.

The post is about TypeSafe signups. It does not say that the Vercel, Cloudflare, OpenRouter, Venice, or LiteLLM listings stopped taking calls. Those hosts publish their own quotas. The September 21 incident was a different event: the company posted that the API and console were under investigation, then that they were back, and the status page marks Console is unavailable resolved at 08:16 UTC that morning.

On September 23 at 21:26 UTC, Almeida wrote that the team was still working on the pause. He said people had been abusing signups to get around rate limits, and he asked for patience with the platform team.

On September 24 at 01:00 UTC, Matt posted that a signup banner was on the homepage and should come down until the service was back. At 18:34 UTC the company account replied, “Signup banner removed! We’ll be back real soon.” At 18:55 UTC it posted that signups were still closed. The image on that post is a text-message joke. It does not add a quota or a clock.

On September 25 at 03:46 UTC, David Lee posted a screenshot of console.typesafe.ai. The sidebar shows the name David Lee, and a card reads “$5 free monthly credits.” He wrote that the website still asked people to join a waitlist, and that clicking Sign In at the top right had created an account a few minutes earlier. At 04:48 UTC, morishin wrote that he had been marked ready during the waitlist and that new registration was still stopped, so he was calling Jev through Cloudflare AI Gateway. The company posts on September 24 say signups are closed. The two September 25 reports are an hour apart and describe different results. We did not create an account that day.

On September 27 at 22:30 UTC, TypeSafe posted that Jev was back, that capacity had increased, and that signups were open. The picture on that post is a rock-guitar meme. It does not name a quota or an error. The next post, same timestamp, says to start at console.typesafe.ai/login, and that new signups no longer get free credits. It says the company hopes to bring those credits back. Kevin Zhang replied, “We are so back.” The $5 credit in the September 20 post is the credit this reply withdraws for new accounts. What that account calls, and what a request returns, is on what Jev is. We did not create an account that day.

On October 6, 2026, at 17:05 UTC, this desk signed in to a new account at console.typesafe.ai. The first screen was Meet Jev. Enter console opened the home page. The sidebar balance read $0.00. Billing listed available credits at $0.00, offered Add funds and Redeem code, showed no payment method, and said there was no billing history yet. Usage for the last 24 hours was $0.00, 0 tokens, and 0 requests. We did not add a card, redeem a code, or call the API from this account.

On October 8, 2026 the same signed-in console still showed a sidebar balance of $0.00. Billing listed available credits at $0.00, no payment method, no billing history, and auto-recharge off until a card is on file. Usage, set to the last 7 days, showed spend $0.00, 0 tokens, and 0 requests. The estimate line still said $0.042 per million input tokens and free output. A search of @typesafeai posts since October 6 for signup, credits, or a pause returned no posts. We did not add a card, redeem a code, or create another account. The September 27 post remains the statement that signups are open.
